I am a photographer and designer based in Decorah, Iowa with over 20 years of experience in multimedia production. I graduated from The University of Iowa with a BA in Photography in 1999 and worked as a freelance producer for a decade before earning my MA in Design from The University of Northern Iowa. I have worked and taught in higher education in photography, design, and instructional methodologies at Kirkwood Community College, The University of Northern Iowa and Upper Iowa University. I currently hold the position of Multimedia Lead in the ITS department here at Luther College.
Aside from making things, I cherish my time spent teaching and talking about art with students. I have had the privilege to work with students of every age, including K.I.C.K. summer camps at Kirkwood, coaching and ref’ing at the YMCA and more recently working with Art Haus, in Decorah.
“Walking Decorah,” is my ongoing annual calendar project that explores the virtues of contemplation, local architecture, physical activity, and fresh air.
I have a extensive experience in Portrait and Event Photography, Graphic Design, Web & Book Design, Bookmaking, and Printmaking. If you like something that you see on this site, or have a project to collaborate, please drop me a note.
